Police name Devon death crash motorist

A motorist killed in a collision between two vehicles in Devon has been named by police.

Alexander Pearson, from the Newton Abbot area, died on Sunday in the incident on the A383 Ashburton Road.

Mr Pearson, 28, was driving a Mazda 323 when it was in collision with a Renault van travelling towards Ashburton, shortly before 0830 GMT.

The road was closed for eight hours following the incident. Police have appealed for information.

The driver of the Renault, a 42-year-old man who was also from the Newton Abbot area, received minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
