Police 'disappointed' by traffic accident rise in Devon

  • Published

Police have expressed disappointment at a 60% increase in the number of serious accidents on roads in parts of Devon.

In the south and central areas of Plymouth accidents rose from eight between April and December 2009 to 24 over the same period in 2010.

Insp Richard Pryce said driver speed was the largest contributory factor.

But he admitted speed camera cuts could change driver attitudes "if there is a reduced perception of enforcement".
