Barnstaple man in court on rape charges

A man has appeared in court accused of raping a woman in North Devon in the early hours of Sunday.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the alleged attack happened in the Whiddon Valley area of Barnstaple.
Glyn Thompson, 38, of Willshere Road, Barnstaple, appeared at the town's magistrates' court charged with two counts of rape.
Mr Thompson was remanded in custody and will appear at Exeter Crown Court on 8 March.
