Crews tackle Torquay thatched roof fire

Firefighters have tackled a thatched roof fire at a holiday resort in Devon.

The alarm was raised on Wednesday evening with reports of a chimney fire at a house in Edginswell, Torquay.

When crews arrived, the fire had spread to the thatched roof of the property. At its height about 70 firefighters tackled the blaze.

No-one was injured, but Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said the property was damaged and part of the roof had to be cut away.
