Plymouth short-stay parking places reduced

Drivers parking in some areas of Plymouth can no longer pay for just an hour following a review.

Minimum two-hour stays have been imposed in several city centre car parks, meaning the cheapest tickets have doubled to £2.20.

Mayflower West, Mayflower East, Derry's Cross, North Hill, Plymouth Pavilions and Elphinstone car parks are affected.

The council said that it needed to review its charges in tough economic times.

A spokeswoman said the changes would "make it easier for customers to see which car parks best meet their needs".

There are still nine short-stay car parks within the city where shoppers can stay and pay for one hour.
