Devon unemployment falls under 10,000


The number of unemployed people in Devon fell below 10,000 in March, the Office for National Statistics says.

The total number of people out of work and claiming benefit in the county decreased to 9,988, down from 10,159 the month before.

It equals a rate of 2.2% across the county, below the UK rate of 3.8%.

Unemployment in the Plymouth area stood at 3.8% in March, and 4.5% of people in the Torbay unitary area were out of work.
