Racial motive inquiry over Exeter attack on Polish man

Police in Exeter are investigating a suspected racially-motivated attack on a Polish man.

The assault happened in the early hours of Saturday in the Heavitree area. The 27-year-old was verbally abused before being punched to the ground and kicked.

He suffered a fractured cheekbone and was treated in hospital, police said.

The attacker, who was in a group, was described as male, 6ft (1.8m) tall, of medium build, with short dark hair and a local accent.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
