Conservatives lose control of North Devon council

The Conservatives have lost overall control of North Devon District Council after losing four seats.

The Tories finished with 18 seats on the 43-seat council, down from 22 in 2007.

The Liberal Democrats remain the second largest group on the council, winning 14 seats. However, this was a drop from 17 in 2007.

Four more Independents won seats, bringing the total number on the council to 11.
