Three people have been rescued from a Devon estuary suffering from hypothermia after their boat capsized.

The 17ft (5.2m) day boat overturned off Newfoundland Cove, near Dartmouth, at about 1300 BST, the RNLI said.

A Dartmouth Harbour Patrol vessel picked up those on-board and took them to the Royal Dartmouth Yacht Club.

They were treated by two ambulance crews at the yacht club and their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

The RNLI inshore lifeboat righted the semi-submerged boat, owned by a man in his 70s who was one of three people rescued, the rescue charity said.

It was then towed back to Dartmouth.
