Exminster charity gets £400,000 from Big Lottery Fund

A Devon charity has been awarded more than £400,000 to help create "healthier communities".

Westbank Community Health and Care, based in Exminster, has been given £409,000 by the Big Lottery Fund.

The centre hopes to use the money to provide activities such as fall prevention classes and an obesity programme.

Volunteer Lucy de Garis said: "It will mean an awful lot to so many people who we will now be able to assist."

The money will also be used to recruit volunteers for shopping, gardening and decorating services.
