Barnstaple school cleaned after norovirus outbreak

A north Devon primary school is being deep-cleaned after an outbreak of a winter vomiting bug.

Sticklepath School in Barnstaple called in the Health Protection Agency on Friday after 50 pupils came down with norovirus, which also causes diarrhoea.

The community school has about 300 pupils.

Head teacher Sam Warner said parents should keep affected children off for 48 hours after the illness to avoid any further spread of infection.
