Torquay's The Grand Hotel evacuated over chimney fire

Staff and guests evacuated from a hotel in Devon due to a fire, have returned to the building.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said it tackled the chimney fire at The Grand Hotel in Torquay.

It said people were evacuated from the seafront hotel at about 13:25 GMT but were allowed to return at about 15:30 GMT.

About 24 firefighters were involved in tackling the fire which was said to be in a "difficult location".

It is not yet known how the fire started.
