Cows suffer facial injuries in Exeter dog attack

Two cows sustained facial injuries when they were attacked by a dog in a field in Exeter.

The incident happened close to the city's university, in Prince of Wales Road, on Saturday, at about 20:30 BST, Devon and Cornwall Police have said.

The force confirmed the dog and its owner were found by officers nearby.

Police seized the animal and the owner has been reported on suspicion of offences under the Protection of Livestock Act.

Inspector Andy Oliver said "It is really important for dog owners to have proper control of their animals at all times.

"There is always a risk that dogs will chase livestock if not on a lead or under very close control."
