Exeter house fire man treated for burns

A man has been severely burned on his face, back and hands after fire swept through an Exeter house.

The man, aged in his 50s, was airlifted to the specialist burns unit at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol after the fire in Union Road on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services and a neighbour also helped rescue two women and a child from the house.

A woman in her 40s was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and minor burns. The child was uninjured.

Police and fire officers are investigating the cause of the fire.
