Major search for diver off Devon coast stood down

A major search for a diver who was reported missing off the south Devon coast has been called off.

The man, who was reported missing at about 10:00 BST, was part of a group on a dive boat off Froward Point, near Dartmouth, Brixham Coastguard said.

The coastguard helicopter based at Portland, Dorset, was involved in the search along with lifeboats from Torbay and Dartmouth.

Coastguard teams from Berry Head and Dartmouth were also involved.

David Colmer, of Brixham Coastguard, said: "Following a final sweep of the search area by the helicopter and lifeboats the search for the missing diver has now been stood down and the incident handed over to Devon and Cornwall Police."
