About 100 firefighters have tackled a blaze at a shop in south Devon.

Crews were called to Harbour News, on Fore Street, in Brixham at about 19:45 BST on Friday.

The street was cordoned off, but no-one was believed to have been injured in the blaze. The cause is under investigation.

Crews from Ivybridge, Crediton, Honiton and Ashburton helped tackle the fire and prevented it from spreading to other properties.

Torbay councillor Mike Morey said: "You could see the fire was serious, the smoke was wafting all the way up Fore Street.

"When the smoke cleared the damage was quite extensive."
