A firm which owns a Devon hotel which went up in flames has admitted four fire safety breaches.

Three guests and one member of staff had to be rescued from the roof after the fire at Tantons Hotel in Bideford in May 2011.

Barnstaple Magistrates Court heard that fire alarms at the hotel did not work properly and the fire doors were poorly maintained.

Chescombe Limited will be sentenced on 2 August at Exeter Crown Court.

A man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
