'Small amount' of oil in Aveton Gifford stream

An investigation has found small amounts of oil in a south Devon stream.

The Environment Agency was alerted on Wednesday evening about the smell of diesel in Parson's Brook in Aveton Gifford.

It sent an officer to assess the extent of any pollution, but the source of the pollution could not be found.

A spokesman said: "There was evidence of a small amount of oil. It could have been accidental spillage from an oil container."
