Woman released over Ottery St Mary baby death

A woman arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a baby has been released without charge, Devon police have said.

The 24-year-old was arrested after the baby girl from Ottery St Mary was admitted to hospital on Boxing Day.

The 10-month-old was taken to hospital in Exeter and later transferred to Bristol, but died on 29 December.

A 28-year-old man remains in police custody and is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Police said the man had previously been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm, but he had been re-arrested on suspicion of murder.
