Devon sees small unemployment fall in August

The number of people unemployed in Devon was nearly 19,200 in August, a slight fall from July, figures reveal.

The Office for National Statistics said 19,175 people were out of work and claiming jobseeker's allowance, down from 19,212 in July.

In Plymouth's unitary area, 6,490 people were out of work, down from 6,514. In Torbay, it was 3,412 - down from 3,427.

The Devon county area saw an increase of two, to 9,273.
