Woman raped in Exeter prompts police investigation

A woman has been raped in Exeter city centre prompting an investigation by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The attack is believed to have happened in a lane that joins Sidwell Street and King William Street, which has been cordoned off by officers.

A police spokesman said the incident happened between 01:00 and 02:00 BST on Tuesday.

He added they were appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.
