BBC Radio Devon in an appeal for a new appeal

Next year BBC Radio Devon will be 30-years-old.

Over the years listeners helped the station raise millions of pounds for local charities, and now it is looking for a new local charity to support during this special birthday.

But which cause will be the focus of the next campaign?

Some say charity begins at home - that is why we want to support a charitable organisation that works in Devon.

From January 2013, we want to work in partnership with a charity which genuinely benefits local people and, just like BBC Radio Devon, serves the county.

We are looking for a local organisation with a track record of delivering small- and medium-sized grants to needy organisations and communities across the county to help us support as many people as possible in our 30th year.

Making a difference

The partnership will run throughout the year and aims to fundraise and deliver grants within the 12 months.

We are also committed to enabling our listeners to support the charitable appeal through a range of activities throughout the year.

We want to work with an organisation which will work with our listeners to make a difference to living in Devon.

In 2010/11, BBC Radio Devon worked in partnership with the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Two years of activity helped raise awareness about the work of the air ambulance and raised more than £800,000 towards the cost of buying and equipping a brand new helicopter for the service.

Our audience united and organised hundreds of fundraising events and took part in some of our special programmes, including Test the County, the Agatha Christie Swim, and Folk Relief.

Your support helped make a real difference to peoples' lives in the county.

Radio Devon also supports charitable appeals through BBC Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief.

Happy Anniversary

In January 2013, BBC Radio Devon will begin celebrating 30 years of serving the county.

Now as we approach our 30th year we would like this appeal to reflect our status as the longest-running local radio station in the county.

Any charity wishing to be considered as an appeal partner must submit a written document detailing its proposals.

We are looking for charities to demonstrate how BBC Radio Devon together with our listeners can make a real difference in the county by providing grants.

The search begins in November 2012 and the deadline for applications is Friday 16 November.

The selection process will take place during November and December.

We will announce our new charitable appeal partner at Christmas and the partnership will continue through until the official end of the appeal in December 2012.

How to apply

Details of how to apply can be found on the PDF document, which is downloadable from this page.

We are also happy to talk about your application from Wednesday 7 November 2012 until the submission deadline for the written proposal on Friday 16 November 2012.
