A lorry carrying food has been destroyed in a fire in Devon.

The blaze broke out at about 05:10 BST while the lorry was on the northbound carriageway of the A38 at Haldon Hill, near Exeter.

The cab and container, containing food and other consumables but no hazardous substances, were both well alight when fire crews arrived.

The driver was not injured and the cause was believed to be accidental, Devon and Somerset Fire Service said.

One lane has been closed on the carriageway.
