Westward Ho! beach fall boy, 12, flown to hospital

A 12-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after an accident on a Devon beach.

The boy injured his back in a fall at Sandmere beach, Westward Ho!, just after 17:00 BST.

RNLI beach lifeguards, Westward Ho! coastguard team and South Western Ambulance were all involved in the rescue, Swansea Coastguard said.

He was airlifted to North Devon District Hospital by the Devon Air Ambulance. His condition is not known.
