Exeter cemetery stabbing accused denies attempted murder

A man has denied trying to kill his neighbour in a cemetery in Exeter, Devon.

Joseph Willis, 49, of Exeter is accused of stabbing 34-year-old Helen Pearson with scissors at St Bartholomew's Cemetery in October.

He was arrested after the police helicopter was deployed during the search for the attacker.

Mr Willis pleased not guilty to attempted murder at Exeter Crown Court via video link from Exeter prison.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Francis Gilbert and is due to stand trial in April.
