A man has appeared in court charged with stealing sensitive material during a burglary in Devon.

Marcin Kostrzewa, 31, was arrested in Plymouth on Thursday on suspicion of breaking the Official Secrets Act.

He pleaded not guilty to burglary in Devonport between 21 March and 10 April. Torquay Magistrates' Court heard he allegedly possessed details about Royal Navy warships and submarines.

He was remanded in custody and is due at Plymouth Crown Court on 28 April.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the Polish national, of Ker Street, Devonport, had not been charged with any offence under the Official Secrets Act 1911.
