Tributes have been paid to the driver of a tractor who died when the vehicle smashed through a hedge and overturned.

The man, who has been named locally as 25-year-old Kevin Dorman, from Sidmouth, has been described as "pleasant and friendly" and a "very good footballer".

The tractor crashed near Houghton Farm on the Northmostown road between Otterton and Newton Poppleford, Devon, at about 12:50 BST on Monday.

Mr Dorman died from his injuries.

'Sadly missed'

Andy Argyle, from Sidmouth Town Football Club, said: "He was a very good footballer who was very loyal to his team.

"He played in our first and second teams for a good number of years and was well respected and had a lot of good mates.

"He will be sadly missed."

Kenny Duncan, principal of Sidmouth College, where Mr Dorman used to be a student, said: "Kevin is remembered as a pleasant and friendly student.

"He enjoyed sport and is particularly remembered for his skills on the football pitch.

"Although he left here some time ago, his death has come as a shock to our community and we would like to express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all in our community who remember him."

Devon and Cornwall Police said the tractor had been towing a trailer after leaving a field when it overturned.
