Hundreds of people have attended a memorial to a 12-year-old girl who died after falling from a wall at a youth club in Devon.

Balloons were released at 13:00 BST in memory of Nicole Hartup who hit her head when she fell at the Phoenix Youth Club in Exeter on 23 May.

One of those attending said Nicole was "a true little angel".

During the event, money was collected from friends and family to buy a bench in Nicole's memory.

A Devon County Council spokesman said it was believed Nicole hit her head after falling off the wall while watching a football game.

Devon and Cornwall Police said earlier this week the "exact circumstances of this incident are still being investigated".

Friends and family of Nicole, who was a student at Isca College of Media Arts in Exeter, took to social media this week to pay tribute to a "gorgeous young lady".

Sabina Denham, the girl's aunt, wrote on Facebook: "My gorgeous, beautiful niece Nicole Hartup has gone to live with the angels."
