Tributes have been paid to two men from Plymouth who died in Amsterdam after reportedly snorting white heroin.

The men, both in their early twenties, have been named locally as Shaun Brotherston and Bradley Price.

Friends paid tribute to Mr Price on social media while The University of St Mark and St John described Mr Brotherston as "an active sportsman and well liked."

The men are yet to be named officially by the Foreign Office.

They were found in a hotel room in Amsterdam, where they were thought to have been celebrating Mr Brotherston's 21st birthday.

Harry Gould said on Facebook: "RIP to my boys Shaun and Brad gonna miss you boys, it's not gonna be the same without you."

Dutch police said powder, found to be white heroin, was found at the scene.

Police spokesman Rob van der Veen said investigators believed the men had thought they were buying cocaine, rather than white heroin.
