The family of a 21-year-old man who died in a car crash say he "lit up every room he entered".

Daniel Foale died in hospital after the crash on the A3122 between Totnes and Dartmouth on Saturday.

His family said in a statement they were "utterly devastated" by the death of the keen footballer who was studying at South Devon College.

The four occupants of two other cars involved in the crash escaped with minor injuries or were uninjured.

'Hugely admired'

Mr Foale, from Kingsbridge, was a keen rugby and football player.

"He was the life and soul of every party," said his family.

"He was hugely admired by so many people for so many different reasons."

Police are still appealing for witnesses following the collision.

Sgt Steve Walker said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen Mr Foale's green Volkswagen Polo being driven in the Woodlands area shortly before the collision.

"The car was travelling in the direction of Dartmouth, towards Totnes."
