The death of an eight-month old boy is still being treated as unexplained, according to police.

A 27-year-old man had been arrested and released on bail, but following an inconclusive toxicology report no further action will be taken.

The post mortem tests could not identify a cause of death.

Ambulance staff informed police of the death of the baby on Wednesday 15 June in Newton Abbott, Devon.

A police spokesman said: "The circumstances of the child's death continue to be investigated and are being viewed as unexplained rather than suspicious."

"Further examinations are currently taking place and we await these results."
