Jet skier suffers head injuries in Poole harbour

A jet skier suffered serious head injuries after he collided with a speed boat in a Dorset harbour.

Portland Coastguard was alerted by another vessel that the man was thrown from his craft at the entrance of Poole Harbour at 1340 BST on Saturday.

The jet ski and the boat, with two people aboard, had drifted onto Hook Sands when Poole RNLI rescuers arrived.

The coastguard helicopter flew the man, who had a gash to his head, to Poole Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

The inshore lifeboat escorted the speedboat back to Parkstone Bay Marina before returning to recover the jet ski.
