Cyclist, 76, dies in Upton crash during time trial

A cyclist taking part in a time trial has died after crashing into the back of a broken down car in Dorset.

Emergency crews were called to the A35 Upton bypass close to Upton Country Park, near Poole, at about 0850 BST.

Police said the Renault Clio had broken down with its hazard warning lights on when the 76-year-old cyclist rode into the rear of it.

The road was closed for more than two hours while police attended the scene and an investigation took place.

Witnesses are being urged to contact police.
