Two pedestrians die in Sandbanks collision

Two people were killed when a car hit a group of pedestrians in the exclusive Sandbanks peninsula in Dorset.

A 53-year-old man and a 51-year-old-woman, both from Poole, died when they were knocked down by a Mercedes car in Banks Road on Saturday night.

A woman from London was injured and taken to hospital but was later released.

A 33-year-old Poole man has been arrested over driving offences.

Banks Road was closed towards the chain ferry terminal, but ferry services were unaffected.
