Plans for two new hotels in Bournemouth have been given the go ahead by councillors.

The Terrace Mount development will also include 59 residential flats, 224 car parking spaces, and leisure facilities.

The car park will provide 150 spaces for guests of the two hotels as well as town centre shoppers.

Planning permission has been granted subject to an agreement with developers Havard Tisdale over money to improve transport links in the area.

Councillor David Kelsey, chair of the planning board, said: "This is a major boost for Bournemouth's economy and we will see an iconic, modern building developed in the town centre which will be a real asset for Bournemouth.

"The developers have also worked closely with our planning team to ensure that residents are not adversely affected by the new development."
