Crime 'hot spot' in Boscombe gets 20mph zone

A 20mph speed zone is to be introduced as part of a major regeneration programme on a Dorset road described as a crime "hot spot".

The speed limit for Roumelia Lane in Boscombe will be installed, along with a one-way system and resurfacing work.

The moves comes after residents raised safety concerns following a spate of incidents including a stabbing.

Bournemouth Borough Council said the work on the lane, which is due to last 12 weeks, had recently got under way.

A spokeswoman said there would be a "series of phased road closures while work takes place. However, pedestrian access will be maintained throughout".
