Man seriously hurt in Dorset car crash

A man has been seriously injured in a car crash on a busy stretch of dual carriageway in Dorset.

The collision, involving two cars, happened on the A30 Babylon Hill, near Sherborne, close to the junction for Nether Compton at 1850 GMT on Friday.

A 40-year-old man from Sherborne was taken to Yeovil District Hospital with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses.

Firefighters were called to the scene of the crash to make one of the vehicles safe and to clear up oil and engine fluids from the carriageway.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw a silver car which came from the Nether Compton turn-off and headed towards Yeovil.
