Part of Cerne Abbas house damaged by fire

A house in Dorset has been severely damaged by fire.

Fire crews were called to the property in Long Street, Cerne Abbas, just after 1600 GMT on Saturday, after several neighbours dialled 999.

Both floors of the two storey, semi-detached house were on fire. No one was inside the building.

Dorset Fire and Rescue said the kitchen and bathroom were completely destroyed. The rest of the house was damaged by smoke.

Firefighters had extinguished the flames by 1800 GMT.

An investigation into the cause is under way.
