Mr Laing was reported missing in August 2009
A body found by walkers in Dorset has been identified as that of an elderly man who went missing in 2009.
The discovery was made on Friday on Stoborough Heath, near Wareham.
Police used dental records to identify the remains as those of Michael Laing, from Harman's Cross, who was reported missing on 7 August 2009, aged 74.
He was last seen eating an ice cream in South Street, Wareham, and his car was discovered nearby, prompting a widespread search.
Mr Laing's family has been informed and the case has been passed to the coroner.
