Refuse collectors in Purbeck, Dorset, will be starting their rounds earlier than normal during the holidays.
Residents whose collections fall on a bank holiday will still have their rubbish collected but will need to put their bins outside before 0600 GMT.
Collections will take place on the usual days but workers are starting early on Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December and on Monday 3 January.
Any changes to collections caused by adverse weather will be posted online.
Purbeck District Council said most of the waste generated at Christmas can be recycled, including envelopes, wrapping, glass, cans - including aerosols - card boxes - but not corrugated card - and textiles including soft toys and handbags.
Residents can take Christmas trees and corrugated cardboard to local household recycling centres at Panorama Road, Swanage, and Westminster Road, Wareham.
Households can put out one extra refuse bag with their wheelie bins for the first waste collection after Christmas.
