Bournemouth's public services to run over Christmas

Public services in Bournemouth will be running throughout the Christmas and New Year period, the council has said.

Adult and children's care, highways maintenance, refuse collectors and street cleaners are among council staff working over the festive period.

Housing Landlord Central Control will be manned 24 hours a day to take calls from vulnerable residents.

Meanwhile grave diggers and bereavement services will be on call every day to cover any Jewish or Muslim burials.

A "winter watch" service will also be operated to ensure no-one is left sleeping rough in the cold.

"Everyone who needs it is offered warm and safe accommodation providing hot food and access to further support services if required," a council spokesman said.
