Man dies after two cars collide in Shaftesbury

A 74-year-old man has died in hospital after a crash in north Dorset.

He was driving an Alfa Romeo, which collided with an Audi on the A30 in Shaftesbury, between the Ivy Cross and Tesco roundabouts, at about 1030 GMT.

The 29-year-old man driving the Audi and his female passenger were unhurt, police said.

The victim, from East Knoyle, was treated at the scene by paramedics but died later in Oddstock Hospital in Salisbury.

Police have urged any witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The road was shut until 1400 GMT.
