A man has been charged with making a false bomb threat following a 10-hour armed siege in Dorset.

Police teams were called to a property in Seabourne Road, in the Pokesdown area of Bournemouth on Monday.

Officers entered the property after about 10 hours and arrested a man on suspicion of making threats to kill.

A 34-year-old man, from Poole, will appear before magistrates later. He is also charged with assault and two counts of breaching an injunction.

The bomb hoax charge relates to communicating false information to police.

Some residents were moved to the Indoor Bowls Centre in nearby Kings Park during the incident.

Road closures were put in place and a cordon was set up around the house before specialist negotiators attempted to resolve the incident.
