Council to discuss Christchurch hospital plans

Councillors are to meet to discuss plans for a Dorset hospital.

Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Trust has published a draft plan containing alternative proposals for Christchurch Hospital.

One option is to retain most of the services and use spare land on the site to create accommodation for elderly people and a GP surgery.

The second option is to move services, except the Macmillan Unit and blood service, to Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Under the second option, the remainder of the site would be used to create a larger elderly accommodation complex.

Christchurch borough councillors are to discuss the proposals on Tuesday and their response will be decided at the full council meeting on 1 March.

The hospital trust will also be holding a public meeting about the proposals at the council chamber on 29 March.
