Residents living near a suspected illegal drugs factory in Bournemouth are being allowed to return home after being evacuated from the area.

Police cordoned off the property in Methuen Close, Springbourne, on Tuesday while officers in protective suits searched inside.

A 56-year-old man was arrested as part of an inquiry into the production of methamphetamine, or "crystal meth".

Producing the drug can cause explosions or the release of toxic chemicals.

Police added that the arrest was one of several made over the past few months.

A spokesman said the residents were being allowed home on Wednesday night.

The road remains closed to vehicles.
