Man airlifted from Corfe Castle after fall

A man had to be airlifted to safety following a fall at an ancient Dorset landmark.

The 44 year old was at Corfe Castle, Wareham, when he fell and broke his leg among the 1,000-year-old ruins.

A coastguard helicopter was scrambled to the scene at about 1240 BST on Wednesday at the request of the ambulance service.

He was flown to Whitecliff recreation ground before being transferred to hospital in Poole.
