Passenger hurt in microlight crash at Compton Abbas

The passenger of a microlight was injured when the aircraft crash landed at an airfield in Dorset.

Emergency services were called to Compton Abbas Airfield, near Shaftesbury, at about 1045 BST where the aircraft had overturned.

The air ambulance, police, ambulance and fire crews all attended the scene.

Dorset Police said the pilot had escaped unharmed. The injured passenger was taken to hospital by air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has begun an investigation.

Earlier this month a man died when a Tiger Moth bi-plane crashed at Witchampton after taking off from Compton Abbas.

The pilot of the Tiger Moth was seriously injured.
