Poole arsonist sought after two grass fires

An arsonist suspected of starting grass fires close to a school and a busy Dorset road is being sought by police.

Two blazes were deliberately started within half a mile of each other in Poole on Friday lunchtime.

A patch of gorse was targeted close to properties off the Dorset Way and a similar fire was started next to a footpath in Fancy Road.

The man, wearing a grey hooded top and aged about 20 years old, was riding a bike.

Pc Paul Craig, from Poole police, said: "We believe both fires were started deliberately and they had the potential to cause serious damage, given their proximity to houses, the busy Dorset Way and a local school."
