Woman rescued after Corfe Castle cliff fall

A woman had to be airlifted to safety following a fall near a medieval monument in Dorset.

The 72-year-old was near Corfe Castle, Wareham, when she fell at an inaccessible spot.

A coastguard helicopter was scrambled to the castle ruins from Portland at about 1335 BST on Wednesday. The ambulance service was also called.

She was flown to the accident and emergency landing site at Dorset County Hospital for treatment.
