More than 40 firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at farm buildings in Dorset.

Crews were called to Old Sherborne Road, Lower Burton, near Charminster, at 19:30 BST where a barn was well alight.

Dorset Fire and Rescue said vehicles and 100 tonnes of hay were destroyed. It is not yet known how the fire began.

The site is also home to four businesses. About 20 residents were evacuated from nearby homes by police.

Eight fire engines were called to the buildings, near the Sun Inn pub.

Crews, using hose reel jets, main lines and compressed foam, remained at the scene into the night.
